LOOK-DOWN SYSTEM
Aeroptics has recently developed a way to combat the problem of holding a steady frame directly vertical under the helicopter. This clip follows two cars on the Remarkables Ski Field Road in New Zealand showing the degree of control that is attainable with this system. GLIDING GRAND PRIX 2006
In the summer of 2005/2006 Aeroptics was part of a groundbreaking team in supplying live coverage of the New Zealand Gliding Grand Prix. For the first time, spectators could view live coverage of the race and exciting graphics that showed the height, speed and position of each competitor. On board coverage was provided by ABC Minicams, Melbourne, and graphics by Animation Research Ltd, Dunedin. In the summer of 2007/2008 Aeroptics new HDC-1500 camera was able to provide stunning slow motion images of the World Air Games in conjunction with the Gliding Championship. NEW ZEALAND ICEBERGS
In November 2006, New Zealand had some unusual visitors. Huge icebergs floated up the South East coast of New Zealand. This iceberg was the most spectacular that we encountered. The ice pool on the iceberg contained its own mini-icebergs which danced in the water in time to the mother iceberg's movements. MONT ST MICHEL - FRANCE
This historical aerial footage of Mt St Michel on the Nomandy coast was shot for TBS (Japan) with the prototype HDTV gyro-stabilised Cineflex which cameraman, Peter Thompson co-developed. This footage, along with NHK's Roman Empire series (also shot by Peter) was the first gyro-stabilised HD footage to be broadcast on television. |

2001 ARCHIVE SHOT BY AERIAL CAMERAMAN, PETER THOMPSON
This 16:9 showreel features footage shot throughout New Zealand with the 1999 prototype PAL Standard Def Cineflex gimbal by pioneer Cineflex operator Peter Thompson. Although the quality of image has improved greatly with three generations of newer HD cameras, this show reel is useful as a locations reel for New Zealand, and as a sample of the versatility of the Cineflex stabilised platforms.
